Going through a divorce and determining custody of your children is hard enough, but when you are a celebrity sports figure, it can make it more difficult. Deion Sanders, former National Football League player, has been in the news recently regarding an altercation he had with his estranged wife and the two have been arguing over custody of their children.
Last week, the two appeared in Collin County Court in Texas and came to a custody agreement. The judge in the case also set out a child support order. According to the ruling by the judge, Sanders will pay $10,550 month in child support, make a $3,500 monthly mortgage payment and pay for his soon-to-be ex-wife's legal fees that total $275,000. In addition, Sander's agreed to continue paying for the children's health insurance, medical costs, clothes and extracurricular activities. Sanders estranged wife was asking for a lot more in child support, but the judge felt that the amount he decided upon was enough to cover expenses for their children.
The two agreed the Sanders will maintain full custody of their children until school is let out for the summer. After that, his estranged wife will maintain custody for the summer until the two meet back in court in August to determine the final custody arrangement.
For now it seems like the estranged couple has come to an amicable custody agreement which will benefit their children in the long run. As for the remainder of their divorce proceeding, the two will continue through arbitration.
